2026 Racial Justice Candidate Forum

2026 Racial Justice Candidate Forum

Forum:

Event

April  13th, 2026
6 – 8 pm

Event Summary:

For the 8th year, BRJE is bringing together candidates for the Brookline Select Board, School Committee, and BHA Commission. Candidates will be asked to share their personal experiences, articulate policy positions, and provide concrete solutions to advance racial equity in Brookline. This is an important moment ahead of May’s election to hear directly from candidates before you vote.

We’re shaping our questions with input from the community. Submit your questions here.

Information:

Tonight’s forum will be moderated by BRJE Board Chair Kimberley Richardson. Questions were developed by BRJE’s planning team and candidates will have 90 seconds to respond to each one. Expect a fast-moving, substantive evening.

Why it matters:

This is the only forum in Brookline where candidates are asked directly and publicly about their commitments to racial justice. There’s something that can’t be replicated over a livestream about being in that room, and we really hope you’ll be there tonight.

Location:

Select Board Hearing Room, 6th floor, Brookline Town Hall

Agenda:

6:00pm      Welcome

6:15pm      Select Board Candidates

6:45pm      BHA Commissioner Candidate

7:00pm      School Committee Candidates

Can’t make it in person?

You can catch the livestream above (but we hope you’ll join us in-person)

Brookline Town Election:

In-person early voting runs April 25–May 1. Election Day is Tuesday, May 5, with polls open 7am–8pm. You have until April 25 to register to vote. Check here for your polling location and more info.

BRJE was founded in 2016 as a grassroots, community-based organization to address issues of racial inequity in Brookline and to build a multiracial coalition to dismantle structural racism. In 2023, we incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit to strengthen and sustain our long-term mission of eliminating racism in Brookline.
